What Drives me to Detect Sepsis Earlier using AI Technology

Daniel Nichita, Beckman Coulter’s Senior Product Manager for the BARDA Sepsis Program, explains how his commitment to develop early sepsis detection tools stems from a personal story.

Like many, Daniel Nichita, MD, MS sepsis journey started with the loss of a loved one. In his case, it was his mother. Her story would have perhaps ended there, except that during the ordeal, Dr. Nichita witnessed several lapses in clinical judgment that as a trained physician, he found very troubling and simply could not ignore.

Find out what he learned through his mother’s story, and how it drove him to develop the Sepsis Clinical Guide App for delivering sepsis information to Emergency Department professionals, a journey that eventually led him to Beckman Coulter.

AI Technology is the key to early sepsis detection

"While it is still early, I am convinced that AI tools will one day make sepsis misdiagnosis a thing of the past and will be as common and indispensable in clinical medicine as the stethoscope is today,” Dr. Nichita concludes. “I am excited and proud to join Beckman Coulter at the forefront of this new revolution."
